Becoming a happier person improved my quality of life.  Colleagues often comment that I am someone who is not known to get angry or show signs of frustration.

5 ways to becoming a happier you

After 6 months of working with me, one of them remarked that I was obviously someone who looked forward to coming in to work.  Both work and home life make me happy.  I often run for the train as I am keen to get home.  Colleagues often remind me not to miss my train when I get caught in conversations at the end of the working day.

There are many things that contribute to being happy. Here are my favorite five.

1 Walk with confidence

Walking tall with arms swinging wide is sure to make your mood match that of the most confident of us.  Projecting confidence brings us more happiness as we begin to feel good about ourselves.

2 Wear a smile

A smile always affect us positively.  It also softens opposition. When you have a smile on your face, your mind soon has an imprint of your smile in your consciousness. Your mood is sure to lift.

3 Celebrate the good things in your life

When you recollect and celebrate the good things that have happened to you you are sure to become a happier person. Your attention soon is dominated by these positive memories that you relive.

4 Be of Help to others

Volunteering to meet the needs of others soon brings out the best in others.  Where you are clearly meeting a need leads to greater feelings of fulfillment and happiness.

5 Exercise

Exercise is a great way of keeping depression at bay.  Take every opportunity to exercise. I always walk briskly.  My colleagues at work often comment on my pace of getting to meetings.  Exhibiting a sense of urgency keeps my mood high.  This makes me walk fast. Walking at this brisk pace motivates me to think quickly.  I am always energetic as a result. Living on hilly terrain also gives me the opportunity of regular exercise.  A pop out from home to get groceries is sure to get my heart pumping.  I often challenge myself on how quickly I can get back.

Being a happier person I have found has made me an easy person to be around.  There is very little strife in my relationships as a result. My attitude to conflicts have been great as a result.
