Online therapy is becoming more abundant for convenience and safety reasons. You’ll need to use a different process when choosing an online therapist than the one you would use to hire a person who gives in-person sessions. The following are three qualities you need to look for in an online therapist:

The most important elements to look for in an online therapist are compassion and warmth. You’ll need a super-compassionate person if you’ve dealt with devastating trauma. This person will need to talk to you in a non-judgmental way and help you makes sense of your experiences. This individual should also have a warm and inviting demeanor so that you will be more inclined to seek assistance from that person. Trust usually develops within the first few sessions.

Read what they have to say about the provider’s attitude, friendliness, and care. You can also look at the provider’s profile to see if he or she has a welcoming face. Don’t judge your decision on that alone, however. Some people don’t take friendly-looking pictures if they don’t smile. However, you can read the therapist’s profile to get an idea of how that person thinks and feels about providing therapy.
