The Best of Defying Mental Illness Blogs – 2
Having a blog title, The Best of Defying Mental Illness Blogs, sounds kind of pointless when every blog is our best. Why?
Because in each blog we write, our aim is to connect with people and real life issues. We give each post our best shot. We write as if people’s lives depend on any particular blog.
Some blogs of course are more popular than others, getting more hits and/or more comments. This blog on Dealing with Depression consistently gets one of the highest hits since it was published.
We currently have 40 blog posts and still counting and celebrating the milestone! Will we get to 100 by the end of the year? That is certainly the plan!
But for now, here is a review of some of our recent blogs
#1 How to Stop Acting Out in Anger
Anger is linked with emotions and a lot of times, we seem to be controlled by anger rather than the other way round. Most times we focus on the anger itself and not on the situation that needs correcting. The result often is the emotion feeding on itself. Anger then propels you to retaliate against the source rather than dealing with the reason.
If the Bible recognises anger and even tells us to be careful with anger, then what is the purpose of anger? In this enlightening blog we firstly discovered the main purpose of anger! In this 2 part guide on Anger Management we had a look at recognizing and dealing with anger in 7 calm steps! Read more here.
#2 How I overcame TV Addiction
Addiction arises more often from interaction with things rather than interaction with people. A ddiction can be a controlling habit that most times is very destructive. Addictions can cause so many issues. How do we deal with our addictions before they destroy our relationships, our lives and us? Chuck takes us through in this blog, his own personal experience on dealing with an addition to Star Trek (yes he was a big big fan) and other TV programmes!
#3 Are you a Producer or Consumer?
We put on our business hats in this blog and took a look at this all important topic. Most times, we are more consumer orientated but a business person is always looking to provide solutions, they see themselves are solution providers. Rather than stay in your comfort zone or complain of a need, we can be the catalyst for change and or meet a need. And that can happen when we are producer focused. This blog will change how you think.

Sometimes we are struggling with personal goals or ambitions we have in life. Times like this, have you considered a mentor? Everyone needs a mentor. But do you know why? Here are 5 convincing points that will get you looking for one after today for your next project
#5 10 Things You should Not Say to Someone Challenged with Mental Illness
High street shop, Joy, got its clothes labels tangled when they sparked a controversial storm with a comment many thought was deeply offensive to those challenged with mental illness, in particular bipolar disorder. A card which went on sale said, don’t get mad, take lithium. They further sparked more hullabaloo with apparently ‘flippant’ remarks such as Then if you know anyone with bipolar disorder, don’t buy it for them. PROBLEM SOLVED. As a result of careless words, they got #joycott. Want to avoid being #joycott, click here.
