Get the best out of your tan
by Beautifully Bronzed
Just because the suns gone your tan doesn’t has to, you can have a year round tan in a matter of minutes. Having a spray tan is a quick and easy way to get that beautifully bronzed glow.
To get the best out of your tan some maintenance is required. You wouldn’t paint a door without sanding it first the same applies to your skin. You can make your tan last longer by exfoliating well before your treatment.
Smoother skin creates a flawless tan so exfoliating your skin before a spray tan will boost the longevity of your tan and give you a flawless colour.
You will need to prepare your skin the day before your tanning appointment. If possible use a good quality exfoliator; this will remove dead cells from the surface of the skin, helping it to look brighter and smoother. It will slough away any rough textured impurities that remain on the epidermis, creating a smooth base to apply to your tan to.
Pay close attention to common dry areas like the ankles, elbows and feet when you exfoliate. Dry skin absorbs more of the tanning solution when applied; this can lead to unsightly dark patches of colour on the skin.
Reduce your costs by buying a few key ingredients and create your own natural cheap and effective exfoliator.
Lemon juice and baking powder: Baking soda is a fantastic non-abrasive exfoliator that leaves the skin feeling super smooth and lemon is an astringent. Squeeze enough fresh lemon juice into some baking powder to form a paste. Warm the mixture up for a few seconds in a microwave until slightly warm. Then use a sponge to rub the warmed paste onto your skin. Rinse off.
Brown sugar and olive oil: Mix a drizzle of olive oil with some brown sugar to make a quick exfoliator that will slough away dead skin cells. Rub the mixture onto your skin and wash off in the shower. You can even add some essential oils that will leave behind a fragrant scent.
Banana and Sugar: All you need are bananas and sugar. When the bananas are starting to brown smash the ingredients together with a fork into a chunky mix, don’t over-mash or it will become too thin. If you want a banana scrub for your face, reserve some of the banana and mash it separately without sugar. In the shower, pat the sugar mixture and gently massage over your body. For your face, gently massage plain banana there, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with warm water.
Coconut and Sugar: This one is a super moisturiser, and can practically double as dessert; all you need is coconut oil, brown sugar and vanilla essence. Mix ingredients together. Rub on skin while in the shower, massage, and rinse.
This is one of the easiest ways to make the most of your tan.
