OCD to Free!
by Dr Leah
Obsessions, compulsions
In my mind such revulsion.
Checking, counting
To prevent the tension mounting.
Washing, cleaning
Block out my silent screaming.
Thoughts irrational, senseless
Against them I’m defenceless.
Arrange, organise, clear
To stem that nagging fear.
Hoard, pile high and long
If I don’t, it will go wrong.
Repeat all to silence the alarm
And keep my loved ones from harm.
Distress is an understatement
But Professionals say there is treatment.
CBT and medication
To help me change this situation.
Challenge my painful belief
Work with me to bring relief.
Interrupt my weary path
And put recovery in my grasp.
Disrupt those toxic neural circuits
Anxiety stilled so I can bear it.
Support from friends and family
Complete the process naturally.
Gradually unravel this conundrum
And restore my life to normal function.
