Overcoming fear is a major challenge in our world today. Mischevious people take every opportunity to stoke up fear as they enjoy seeing people act out in fear. “It’s scary” is fast becoming a drug for young people who have been introduced to horror stuff as entertainment.

Overcoming fear

Faith goes a long way in dealing with fear; but to cast out or expel fear, the Word of God has a slightly different agenda. Yes, that may shock our conventional thinking. No, God has said in His Word that perfect love casts or drives out fear.

Overcoming challenges is learning to live above these challenges. Mindset is important in dealing with fear. Fear activates the power of the enemy, putting him in the driving seat. We do not war against flesh and blood. As man is a spirit there are always spiritual implications to his actions. We are always motivated either for good or for evil. How else can you explain a person taking delight in very consciously making mischief. A scoundrel carries out mischief and may well say is a joke. There is the gradation between distraction, deception and dislocation. Distraction is the first action on the road to losing the path God has set for you.

Overcoming fear is exercising dominion over the agenda of spiritual forces that seek to control our lives and ultimately to destroy us. Once fear has been introduced, satan and his cohorts now have something in you with which to use to manipulate you. Fear activates the power of satan. We are told not to fear. When Peter considered the waves and the circumstances, he let in a seed from satan which short-circuited his walking on water.

God gave us the primary responsibility of looking after our bodies. Giving in to fear is relinquishing control that God has given you. Pretty much what Adam did when he disobeyed God.

Love perfected in God means we come to full awareness that God loves us so much that we can trust Him completely.

Often, we are too busy working out our own lives to pick up what the Holy Spirit is transmitting to us. When we trust God’s love, we would not have any fear. If you are in fear you are mot in that trust yet.

Fear is an avenue for satan to have his free reign. When you are in fear, you are telling satan you are vulnerable. You may as well go ahead and tell satan to hit you! This is exactly what happened to Job. He fretted too much.

When fear tries to attack your mind , rebuke it. Give fear no place in your life. Speak faith into that situation. Put God’s Word into that situation. No, faith is not about positive thinking. It is Word thinking! Just have stubborn faith
