Are You a Producer or Consumer?
Are you a producer or consumer?
A group of beggars ravaged through the bins of the residents. They were looking for the odd fishfinger, half eaten burgers, pizza or whatever scrap of food that was available to line their famished bellies. The scraps from this area tasted better than the ones in other neighbourhoods.
After all, the palates of the occupants in this surburb led them to shop in the high end supermarkets where the food sold there was of the highest quality.
There was however one beggar that was different.
He knew spoilt kids had wealthy parents. He knew that the rich had a habit of throwing away other items besides food. The lifetime guarantee offered by merchandise bought for the spoilt offsprings who fussed over their excessive dinners, meant the beggars had no short supply of other scraps! Every night, whilst the others fussed over remnants of food they could barely pronounce, this beggar went through the rubbish looking for valuables.
This one beggar found the odd vase, ornament or whatever item that no longer fitted in with the new décor of the residents’ homes. He got down to washing and polishing these items making them as good as new. He ate the scraps of the scraps left from the other beggars.
He kept his focus.
He started selling the items. Soon, he had enough money to open a shop. The day came when he put away his beggar’s ‘cloak’ and put on the robe of a rich man. His life as a beggar had ended.
Meanwhile it was business as usual for the others still fussing over the now diminishing food scraps – the spoilt kids were growing up…!
This is actually an adaptation of a true story. Are you a consumer or a producer? You see the beggar with the vision was a producer. He was carving his future. The others were consumers. They lived for the now and remained in that position.
What was the difference between the two? MINDSET!
Your background, environment, friends, past and so on do NOT determine your future. The Bible says that God has blessed us with ALL spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3). It does not matter how dirty or degrading your past has been.
You have the power to change how your life will go. You have the Holy Spirit. He is your Teacher and Guide to help you.
Allow God to change your mindset. Analyse your life through the agency of God’s Word. Be who He says you are. A victor, more than a conqueror, an overcomer. All these are what He says in His Word.
Be a producer!

Thank you. The story clearly illustrates producer vs consumer. The consumer will always be in need of the producer
