Quote of the week – Forgiveness
Are you in Prison?
‘ To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you’ – Lewis B. Smedes
Forgiveness does not wait for an apology. An apology may be a long time coming.
Then if/when it comes, you’ll probably think it was not genuine enough. The tone was not right. The words were not right. They have a pattern of always doing this anyway!!
Once we realise that we are not going to wait for an apology in order to forgive, we can move on and get on with our lives. If we swear Adam that we will never forgive for as long as we live, firstly that is dangerous because it affects your spirit. It becomes a poision And what affects your spirit will eventually affect your soul and ultimately your physical.
Secondly, the person invariably gets on with their life while you are stuck in a prison. Thirdly, you have now become a victim.
Don’t wait for an apology. Do it for yourself. Because ultimately, forgiveness is always of benefit to you!
