Stop comparing yourself to others on Social Media
A lot of people put their best foot forward on social media.
Behind some of the cosmetic smiles and happy faces, immaculate ‘showhouse’ homes are the real, grimy stories.
Think about it many are auditioning their lives on social media. And in auditioning, you bet, you will give your best performance. The Colgate smiles are not all they are set up to be…under the camouflage is some granite dispositions!
You must also remember that just because someone is doing well, has achieved everything that you have ever dreamt of, lives in your dream house, drives your dream car, is hooked to your dream spouse, is parenting your dream kids (you get the picture, surely!), does not mean you are a failure. We all are running our own race.
Be happy with you. You are a masterpiece in your own class. You are going somewhere to happen and it is not their way.
If you keep comparing yourself, your life, kids, spouse, and every blessed thing you have with the next person, you will feel inferior. You will feel pressured, depressed, discontent, frustrated and certainly have a complex.
Think about it from another angle. In some areas, there will always be someone that has done better than you.
But…there is also someone else who wants to be in your shoes. “Me?”, you say. “Yes, you!”.
You might be challenged with depression or struggling with an addiction, but you are making efforts for a change. Else you would not be on this site for example.
That is better than someone who does not even have access to resources.
Appreciate you. Social media is good but have your guard up. The grass is greener on the other side.
But remember the grass may be greener just because it is fake!
Great Post. One must not compare oneself to anyone, be it on social media or otherwise.
So true Neha!!!! Somehow though social media seems to be where people want to showcase or exaggerate their lives and others seeing the posts, likes, comments, etc, want to compete. Comparing as you said whether social media or not is to be so avoided.
Absolutely, it is pretty sad though!
