Top Tips to Prepare for a Spray Tan

At Beautifully Bronzed you will always get a professional spray tan.   However, good preparation is vital when trying to achieve the perfect spray tan.

Follow these simple tips to ensure you get the best results out of your spray tan.

##1 Hair Removal

Waxing, shaving or any other hair removal methods must be done 24-48 hours prior to treatment as this allows skin pores to close.

Body hair does not stop the spray tan sticking to your skin but shaving soon after having a spray tan can affect the look of you tan and can often result in the colour becoming faded and patchy.

Waxing can remove the colour completely from your skin.

##2  Exfoliate

This is one of the most important steps when preparing your skin for a spray tan.   Exfoliate at least 12 hours before your tan paying particular attention to knees, elbows and any other dry areas.

Dry, rough patches of skin tend to absorb more colour than skin which is smooth and soft.   This can result in uneven patches on your elbows, knees, and other rough areas.   Exfoliate your entire body with a loofah or body scrub to achieve optimum results.

##3  Moisturise

Do moisturise thoroughly the day before your spray tan to prevent dryness.  Do not moisturise just before your tan appointment as this can act as a barrier.

##4  Shower

Shower before your appointment making sure any makeup, deodorant, perfume or any other product containing oil have been removed.

Makeup will again act as a barrier, deodorants and perfumes may turn green when in contact with spray tan, but the green does wash off with your first shower after the spray tan.

It’s natural to apply lotion or moisturiser to your body and face after showering to keep your skin soft and supple.  This is a definite no no when preparing for your spray tan as lotions and moisturisers can block the spray tan and stop it getting on to your skin.

If you are new to spray tanning, a patch test before your treatment is advised to ensure the spray tan formula is suitable for your skin.

To achieve the best out of you, Beautifully Bronzed spray tan you should use no other tanning products 5 days prior to your appointment.
