The autumn and winter months can be particularly harsh on your skin. The dark nights and gloomy days can make you feel tired and it is all too easy to fall out of your daily skincare routine.

Skin

*  Always use moisturizer containing SPF in the morning. Even in the winter months.

*  Avoid using soap on your face as this can be very drying. Ideally you should cleanse and tone as well as moisturize daily.

*  Always remove your make up and moisturize before going to bed

*  Use an exfoliator to remove dead skin. Only do this 2-3 times a week more often can dry out your skin. Use a gentle exfoliator on your face and a coarser scrub on your body.

Hair

*  Winter can take its toll on your hair. Try using a nourishing hair mask one a week to avoid dry hair.

*  Get a trim every 6-8 weeks to keep your hair looking healthy.

*  Make sure your hair is completely dry before using hair strengtheners.

*  Brush out your curls with your fingers to get that tousled look.

Nails

*  Use excess eye cream on cuticles. The more hydrated your cuticles, the stronger your nails will be.

*  Make your manicure last longer by applying a clear coat every two days. Pay particular attention to the edge as this is most likely to become chipped.

*If you have chipped nail polish apply a glitter coat to hide the chip.

Make-up

*  Balance out the shimmer. If you’re going for a dramatic shimmery eye, opt for matte or muted lips.

*  Try new shades for autumn and winter.

*  Remember to regularly clean your make up brushes. These can get built up with bacteria and cause spots. Wash them with warm water and a mild soap.

*  Clean out your make up bag. Get rid of any old products that may have expired or you no longer use.

Health

*  It is all too easy to start eating ‘comfort food’ on those cold dark nights. A healthy diet is not only good for you body but also great for your hair, skin and nails.

*  Eat as much fresh colorful fruit and vegetables as you can. These are rich in antioxidants and nutrients.

*  Opt for a home workout rather than venturing out on those cold nights.

*  Green tea is full of antioxidants which may help you burn fat and calories.

 Beauty Treatments

* Treat yourself to a beauty treatment.

* Get recommendations from friends and family when looking for a new beautician or hairdresser.

*  Certain treatments are best left to the professionals. A bad wax or spray tan can be disastrous.

Follow these simple beauty tips to keep looking your best throughout the winter months.
