Writers in Our Midst

Thursday 6 March is World Book Day 2025. We shall do our bit to appreciate the writers in our midst. Many have blogged with us over the past decade. Some have maintained interest over the years while most have blogged with us no more than once.

I will start with our published authors, to those journaling regularly for magazines and the like. Over a decade ago, most publishing was through known Publishing Houses but this has rapidly changed over the past decade with self-publishing taking the lions share of books.

Writers in our midst include Zoe Onah [Defying the Odds book], Tendayi Mahachi [Authentic Magazine] among others. The likes of Anne Arouna, Stacey Bryant and Stephanie Snyder have blogged with us multiple times with Stephanie’s blogs trending over a long range of time.

The greatest book, of course, is the Bible. Whatever your position on this, it’s influenced lives and continues to do so in greater measure. Easter is round the corner is is marked in virtually every territory around the world.

Every year Primary Schools in my locality mark World Book Day by getting the pupils dress up in theme characters. Today, my young one went in dressed as a pilot. She said she was “a Pilot on the First Flight”. There were numerous characters on the way to School today, mostly pirate themed. Many of the girls wore Disney Princess theme.

It is a delight when children are yearly motivated in Primary Schools to read books in a fun and engaging way across all age groups
